Polishing: An Introduction
This process produces a surface with significant specular reflection, but is also capable of reducing diffuse reflection in some materials.
In addition to parts in cars and other vehicles, handrails, cookware, kitchenware, and architectural metal, polishing can improve their appearance. Buffing, a form of polishing, can also be used to prevent corrosion and buildup of bacteria and mold on pipes. Light reflectors are also made using buffing.

Aspects of Design
- The effect of polishing on plastics is negligible with the exception of PC/PMMA. Nylon/POM materials cannot be polished.
- The polishing effect of harder metals is better, but the cost is higher.
- When using polishing, precision requirements cannot be too high. Complex feature structures are not suitable.
